Gandahara Educational and Vocational Services Organization (GEVSO)
GEVSO was established in September 2010 by two Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars who studied in the U.S. for two years and returned to Jalalabad to help improve the education system.
It is a registered NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) with the Afghanistan Ministry of Economy.
In the summer of 2012 GEVSO is conducting Teen Teach 2012 for over 4,000 students in three provinces. read more
Gulaye e Araban High School (Nasrat II) Teacher Training
GEVSO is currently running a year long project of Teacher Training at the Gulaye e Araban High School (Nasrat II) located in Jalalabad funded by Canadian Rotarians.read more
Nuristan English Enhancement Program
GEVSO also conducts the Nuristan English Enhancement Program – NEEP – at the Teacher Training College in Parun to strengthen English language instruction in schools in Nuristan province.
GEVSO helps bombed girls’high school through Teen Teach program
The Shulani Girls High School in Chaprahar district of Nangarhar was exploded by local Taliban on March 21, 2012.
The village leader stated “after this incident all villagers promised to that they will not stop their children from education. They used to accompany their children to school for one month after the incident”. He further stated that we are thankful to the US Department of State for providing Teen Teach program to the most vulnerable students.
Teen Teach 2012 is currently teaching English to 300 girls at the Shulani Girls High School. Parents believe that English is a key to modern studies, and they want their daughters to have the best opportunities.read more
