GEVSO has been working with the Lamia Afghan Foundation on donations of books and aid to schools, warm clothes and shoes to people in need and orphanages, tents to the refugees camp, toys to the children and mothers in the hospitals and much more.
Teen Teach is a program funded by the US Department of State in which students who have just graduated from high school are trained and then teach English to students in classes 6 through 9.
The Teen Teach 2012 was successfully implemented in 16 schools located in rural areas and 3 schools in urban area in eastern Afghanistan with participation of 4071 students (1972 girls & 2099 boys).
GEVSO distributed more than 12,000 Hoopoe illustrated story books donated by The Afghan Lamia Foundation in 6 high schools in Jalalabad. These books, written in English, Dari and Pashto languages, were checked and approved for distribution by the education department in Nangarhar to Allayee, Bibi Hawa and Tajrubawee girls’ high schools and Abdul Wakil, Tajrubawee and Nangarhar boys’ high schools in Jalalabad city.
Gandahara Educational and Vocational Services Organization (GEVSO) facilitated the delivery of warm clothing to children in orphanages in Jalalabad on November 28, 2012.
GEVSO recently distributed books to students in Nuristan Province to assist them in improving their reading ability. The books were delivered to the Education Directorate by Mr. Fazalullah Faiz and other teachers of English that GEVSO supplies to the Teacher Training College (TTC) under a NEEP grant.
